Kirkfield was a "Modern Image" layout that was exhibited
for many years at our own exhibition and also on the "circuit"
where it made several appearances at other clubs venues. It was always a
crowd puller with plenty of action as there was always something moving
on the layout.
It had a 2 track main line which went to 4 tracks as it passed the
front of the layout and an automated branch line where 3 different
trains would appear in sequence.
There was also a large Motive Power Depot and a reasonable goods yard
where shunting could be carried out and goods trains exchanged with the
main line.
The Fiddle Yards had a total of 18 main tracks and 4 side tracks for
DMU's so there was a large selection of trains that could be employed to
give plenty of variety for the visitor to enjoy |
