2007 was our first time at the new venue
of Heywood Civic Centre. There were the usual worries about how the
event would go, especialy as the cost of using the Civic was going to be
so very much higher than anything we have tried before.
I can now report that these fears were unfounded and the attendance
from the Model Railway fraternity did not let us down and we had a
bigger turn out than ever before.
It was very hard work though for all concerned as we had decided that
we needed to keep costs down fore this first time at the Civic, so we
used almost all of the clubs own layouts over the weekend. This meant
that there were no spare people to take over everything for meal reliefs
etc. and pecious little time to look around at other exhibits.
Feedback though from visitors as they left was good and visitors seemed
to have found it a very good event. Hopefully we can now build on this
and do even better in 2008.
In case you couldn't make it or if you did and would like to see them
again then some photgraphs of the layouts and stands at the exhibition
are below.
If you had a layout or demo at the exhibition and I haven't included
you then apologies but as I said above, it was very hard to get round
and visit everything let alone take photographs. |
