Chwiliog

Chwilog is a 7mm scale "Narrow Gauge" model by Geoff Lord a member of the Heywood Model Railway Group. It is a permanent installation in a spare room at Geoff's home. Geoff is also a member of both the 7mm Society and the Ffestiniog Railway that has much inspired this model which is based on the "Narrow Gauge" railways in Wales.
It is an "End to End" layout occupying three sides of the dormer extension room where it is located. Geoff has plans to make it into a continuous run by completing the circuit using out of sight track in the loft space.
The Locos and Stock on this layout are also used on the Club's "Narrow Gauge" layout Penn- y -Ffordd and looking at the pictures below it is quite easy to see where the ideas for that award winning layout were born.

The view of Chwiliog station with a passenger train waiting to depart and the Rail Bus in the bay platform. The Slate Quarry wagons can also be seen in the goods yard on the right.
A nice view of Loston Bodge works. Travellers to the Ffestiniog railway will perhaps realise where the name was coined from.

A "Slate Quarry" train on its way round the layout.
Rivet counters will no doubt spot the deliberate error in this photo.

The entry to the "Fiddle Yard" can just be seen on the right.
The crossing keeper is a keen gardener (just like the layout owner) and hidden between the trees a train is just visible passing the garden and heading to the crossing.

The train hidden above can now be seen reaching the crossing where the road is undergoing some repair work.
The "Quarry Train" passing the back of the Loston Bodge works where the sign is being re-furbished.

For those who didn't spot the error in the ealier picture of the quarry train the "Gunpowder" wagon is still next to the loco!!. A situation that would never have been allowed in real life.

The "Rail Bus" makes a stop at the small Halt station at the rear of the Loston Bodge works.

I have included more than the usual amount of pictures for this layout but I had so many and was spoilt fore choice somewhat. It is also such a well detailed layout that even with the 10 images shown I still can't give the full justification that this model so richly deserves.
